La Fondazione Buzzi Unicem premia la ricercatrice Graziana Digiacomo al convegno “Young researchers in lung cancer”
Researcher Graziana Digiacomo from the Laboratory of Experimental Oncology of the University of Parma, under the direction of Prof. Pier Giorgio Petronini, was awarded a prize of 1,000 euros during the II edition of the YOUNG RESEARCHERS IN LUNG CANCER conference for the best scientific work conducted on malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) established by the Buzzi Unicem foundation.
The research work in question showed that selective CDK4/6 inhibitors, which are proteins involved in cell cycle control, could be a promising new class of drugs for treating mesothelioma, particularly when used in combination with PI3K/AKT/mTOR inhibitors.
These results could serve as the basis for a new treatment for MPM tumors with specific molecular alterations that could be predictive of response to these inhibitors.
